Hi.. i am new to AC and wishes to use AC when i open my neurology private practice in near future.
i have few questions.

1. i can view and print consultation letter without difficulties. The question is
a. can i add patient's picture to consultation letter?
b. i can i save the consultation letter into word format before printing? so far, i can save as MS image writer/text but not as word file.
c. how can i adjust borders (top, left, etc) before printing?
d. oh, how can i delete a visit history of a patient?

i am sure i will have tons of more questions in the future. your answer will help me greatly!!

As far as I can tell, the letter writer only saves in that horrible html format. Maybe Jon is working on changing that, but I haven't heard.

I dont know about the picture.

I've never seen anything to change the page layout (margins). I dont think that you can.

You cannot delete a patient's visit history.

With regards to the pictures, if you have a picture of the patient on their demographics page, it will print with their demos but not on your letter. You can have the demos printed with your letter by checking the box at the bottom of the letter writer. If you imported a picture to a note, it should print out with the note but not with the letter. Hope that helps.

There is 3rd party software that will allow you to print to Word, but it still doesn't format well.

Not sure why you would want to delete a patient visit? Maybe I am misunderstanding, but that doesn't sound like a good idea. Here I would have to keep a newborn's visit 24 years.

There are certain things in AC that are a disaster I am sorry to say. The letter writer is one of them. It would be easy to have it opne in Word, but so far, Jon hasn't chosen to do that.

i just wanna say thank you for all your answers and support. I am in the trial phase with AC - but most certain that i will be buying it at the end free trial period.

i have few more questions !

1. how to plot the head circumference and keep in the date?
2. is there denver developmental scale available?
3. as i will eventually need to make the transition from the notebook (i started using AC with personal laptop) to desk top - how do i "replicate" my laptop setting to new desk top computer without losing patients, templates, etc.

thanks!!

Michael,

If I understand your question in number one, if you add the HC in a progress note it will obviously be saved with that date. If you are asking how to save a random HC (someone comes in for a HC only or something like that)you would have to do a workaround that may or may not work for you depending on your billing, etc.

You would have to open a note, add the HC, choose what date you wanted by clicking Choose Date at the top left area (it would most likely be that day, but you may have done it last week and forgotten to record it. If that is all you are going to do, then type CTRL - N to clear the subjective parts of the note, type the words Head Circumference in the chief complaint, then save the note. If you use AC for superbills and billing this may cause problems, but if you don't, then it works as you will see Head Circumference by the date you did it in the Visit Section and it will be dated in the VS section as well. It will, of course, make it look like the patient had another visit, but who cares.

Number two. No, but there are two ways to get around this if you only need the document. If you need an electronic one, then no. But, if you can find one and make a Word document of it or a PDF, then you could either import it into each chart (your receptionist could) or if you just wanted one available, you could make a patient called Denver Developmental or Denver Dev and import it there.

#3 Piece of cake. You copy the Amazing Charts folder from your laptop and paste it into the Program Files folder on your desktop computer and choose to overwrite it (assuming that is where you installed the Amazing Charts folder. Alternatively, you could just copy the six .mdb databases and paste them into the AC folder, but I generally prefer doing the whole folder as it is rather small, contains your Imported Items folder and contains your dictionary file. But, keep in mind, the dictionary file is only for the computer you are working on, which makes little sense.
