Is there a way in Amazing charts to have a cover letter go with the RX when I fax them? I have it set up on outgoing faxes within my windows system but didnt know if there was a way or if anyone did this. Thanks much! ALex

AC uses the built in fax driver on your computer to fax - if you set your printer driver for fax to have a cover letter it should send it everytime you fax something from within AC.

The Rx-writer does not have capacity to send an AC cover letter, but SFHill's suggestion is the only way to do it.

A while back Leslie posted some stuff for me and a few others about how she uses her Brother AIO to reciece, sign and respond, fax back many Rx requests that come via fax. The included software, Paperport seems to allow you to capture a copy of your signature, place it where you want, and then BAM out goes your signed Rx. And I see no reason why it couldn't do this for one generated in AC as well. Right Leslie???
I've been having fun playing with FAP and all, but probably soon after the 4th I'm going to break down and buy a smaller but fast B&W Laser Brother for our place as well. We will probably keep using our HP AIO as the main machine (we'll see) but the Brother will certainly act as the main fax machine. There are some thread to read up on this if you care to...

Acrobat Adobe will allow you to include your signature as well.

Paul, Yes, you could print anything in AC to the Paperport desktop (which shows up as a printer option when you select your printer) and from there further edit, sign it digitally and add a cover letter. This would be doable but a bit cumbersome.

So we have pharmacies busting our chops because of the lack of a "signature" so we are not faxing direct from the computers. I just got a copy of Adobe that they will allow me to load on one desktop (I did, the computer we scan at) and one laptop too.
So should I load my extra license on Nancy's laptop so we can finally added that stupid signature? Is this a viable option that will only add a few seconds? In other words once figured out and set up will it be somewhat automated, point and click, point and shoot kind of a thing or will it be some convoluted pain in the neck procedure each and every time?

Well, I would think that, until we can digitally sign our scripts via AC this is a viable alternative. I suspect once she gets used to it it will go fairly quickly.

Paul,
In Adobe, once you use a signature, it automatically populates the actual signature stamp. It's a big icon at the top of Adobe. You can then just click that and pick a place. Just scan in your signature and make it into a signature.

OK, I'll try this sometime soon, but I may have to tap on you once or twice to get it all straight. I've never had a fully functional copy of Adobe before so this is virgin territory for me... But it sounds like a wonderful fix that should work.

Same thing with Paperport You choose the signature once and from then on it will automatically select that signature (you can turn this on and off).

Paul, I did what Bert suggested. it's cool, you can scan in your actual signature. It's located under "stamps."

Adam, Thanks as I said I will probably get into that next week after the holiday. There was no school and no camp this week and the week is realy short and so this PM has gotten practical nothing of value done this week... But I really do want to try it... It would be so nice.
Now if only Sec Leavitt and his techno bozos would get out of my office we might actually be able to provide some healthcare to people... Imagine that!!!

In a side vein, I have been having problems with the KMart pharmacies in my area. They include a 1/2 page of advertising on their refill requests which are faxed to me. Before I had fax to PC these requests used up a lot of my ink and paper to print off their advertising of $4 generics. I faxed numerous requests back to them to stop and it seemed like they did for awhile. But I just got another one from them with the same lengthy, ink-gobbling advertising which, despite its potential to use up the receiver's printer resources, I find purely unprofessional. So today I simply faxed back their refill request with a note stating I would refuse to acknowledge their faxes unless they remove this unprofessional advertising from them. I shall see what kind of response I get. I bet they will tell the patient I refuse to refill their meds.

Update....I received a new refill request without the advertising. I thanked them for removing it, completed the refill and faxed it back.
